Significant overnight accumulation made for long drives on Wednesday
A significant dump of snow overnight made for a slippery morning commute in Calgary.
There were 65 collisions on Calgary roads between midnight and 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday — eight of them involving injuries, police say.
Drivers were advised to be careful during the morning commute. The city said crews would be out plowing routes throughout the day.
"They were saying scattered showers, it was supposed to miss us. I didn't expect quite as much, but that's life. We're Calgary," said Brian Herbert as he shovelled his walk.
"I saw it coming down last night, so I knew I was going to be out today."
There is a 60 per cent chance of flurries on both Wednesday and Thursday night, but Environment Canada says the sun is expected to shine this weekend.
