Niki Ashton, NDP
The incumbent candidate for the riding, Ashton was first elected in 2008 and in 2012 was named Best Constituency MP by Maclean's magazine.
Born in Thompson, the 33-year-old is the daughter of Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation Minister Steve Ashton.
She describes herself as an ally of gender equality and human rights, and served as emcee for the riding's pride celebration.
Prior to sitting in the House of Commons, she taught at University College of the North in the bachelor of arts and business administration programs.
Ashton enjoys the Ottawa-based band A Tribe Called Red, and she drives a 2005 Pontiac Vibe.
She has family in Greece and she does her best to visit them often.
Rebecca Chartrand, Liberal
Chartrand, 43, was born in Winnipeg and is the mother of two children and two foster children.
She works in education, specializing in aboriginal education. When driving around in her Hyundai Sante Fe, Chartrand's favourite song to listen to is Country Strong by Gwyneth Paltrow.
Having grown up watching hockey, Chartrand is a Winnipeg Jets fan. Her favourite Manitoba performer is the pop-alternative rock group Indian City.
The last time Chartrand travelled outside Manitoba was to Grand Forks for a family overnight trip.
August Hastmann, Green Party
Hastmann was born in Selkirk and grew up on a farm just outside of Beausejour.
The 50-year-old has never been married and has no children.
A teacher on Garden Hill First Nation, Hastmann lives close to work and doesn't drive.
His favourite song is My Life by Billy Joel and his favourite Manitoba performer is young rapper Willy Jay. He enjoys watching hockey games with his friends, especially hometown teams.
The last time he was out of Manitoba was to spend Christmas in Mexico.
Zachary Linnick, Libertarian
Born in Flin Flon, 27-year-old Linnick has been married to his wife, Brooklyn, for two years. The couple has five-month-old twins Anson and Miranda.
A border services officer with the Canada Border Services Agency, Linnick attended Hapnot Collegiate and after graduation moved to Winnipeg to attend the University of Manitoba.
He graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in political studies.
When getting around by car, he does it in his 2007 Toyota Corolla.
When tucked into music, his favourite Manitoba performer is his musician brother Ben Linnick. But the most-played tune on his iPod is Cocaine Cowgirl by Matt Mays.
Not a big sports guy, Linnick doesn't closely follow the Jets, Bombers or any other team.
The last time he travelled out of the province was summer 2014, when he and his wife went to Iceland for a belated honeymoon.
