Thousands of asylum-seekers — many fleeing Syria — have risked their lives crossing the sea in small, often flimsy boats. Many have died.
The danger of the journey became painfully clear when photos circulated around the world of the body of a three-year-old Syrian boy who drowned along with his brother and his mother after the boat carrying them capsized.
CBC correspondent Margaret Evans and cameraman Jean-François Bisson set out to show what the crossing might feel like for refugees.
