Equal Voice, advisory council publishes guidebook
Two groups working to encourage women to run for politics are launching a new resource.
Equal Voice and the Advisory Council on the Status of Women have collaborated on publishing a guidebook called Organize to Win. It answers questions about entering political life.
Equal Voice chair Sheilagh O'Leary wants to make the book available for all politically inclined women.
"We want to make sure it's accessible to all women across the province, and this is where the effort comes from," she said.
The Provincial Advisory Council on the Status of Women worked with Equal Voice to create the book, and both groups are holding an event on Tuesday to promote it.
O'Leary said the guidebook that's being launched on Tuesday will discuss topics such as motivation, self-assessment and the duties of an elected official.
She said entering politics can be a daunting task, but the guide should prove to be a helpful resource..
O'Leary says the guidebook discusses topics such as motivation, self-assessment and the duties of an elected official.
