Chohan was also banned from driving for 5 years and fined $200
A Calgary man has been sentenced to three years in prison for his part in a fatal 2014 crash that killed Francis Pesa.
On New Year's Day 2014, a Dodge Ram driven by Kulwinder Singh Chohan, 37, crossed the centre line on Metis Trail N.E. and struck two cars, including a BMV driven by Pesa, 20.

Pesa died five days later in hospital. His girlfriend, who was also in the car at the time of the accident, survived the crash.
Chohan was initially charged with impaired driving and failing a breathalyzer. The charges were later upgraded to impaired driving causing death and causing death with a blood alcohol of more than 0.08.
Earlier this month, Chohan pleaded guilty to impaired driving causing death. At that time, the court heard that Chohan had an open bottle of liquor in his truck at the time of the crash.
In a Calgary courtroom today, the judge also banned Chohan from driving for five years after he has finished his prison sentence and fined him $200.
