CBC issues new policy for public speaking engagements by journalists

Should CBC personalities accept paid speaking engagements from organizations that have an interest in how CBC presents the news? That's been a heated question in recent weeks, and in response, the CBC has updated its policy on the subject yesterday. Jennifer McGuire, general manager and editor-in-chief of CBC News, tells Carol about the rule changes.
"In terms of paid speeches, we'll reject requests from companies, political parties, any other groups which would have the perception of influencing any public policy," Ms. McGuire tells Carol.
"In addition, for CBC employees, we will disclose all speeches paid and unpaid. For our freelance hosts, we will also disclose around paid speeches."
