Extreme cold weather warning for western Labrador

Environment Canada issued an extreme cold warning for the Labrador City and Wabush areas on Saturday morning.
Wind chills will drop temperatures to reach -45 C or colder, expected to persist through the afternoon.

Residents are warned to wear appropriate winter clothing when out in the cold temperatures.
A Wreckhouse wind warning has also been issued for the Port aux Basques region of Newfoundland for Sunday evening and overnight.
Wind gusts of roughly 120 km/h are expected, ahead of an "intense" low pressure system set to track over southeastern Labrador Monday.
Ferry and road advisories
Travellers, meanwhile, are advised to pay attention to road conditions due to the high winds.
On Friday, Environment Canada issued special weather statements for the rest of the province, warning of a winter storm on Sunday through to Tuesday.
Marine Atlantic issued a travel advisory Saturday, stating delays are anticipated for the scheduled Sunday and Monday crossings between Port aux Basques and North Sydney, N.S.
The Crown corporation said it would continue to monitor weather conditions, but customers wishing to change their travel arrangements should contact Marine Atlantic directly.
