During the seventh and final meeting of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission underway in Edmonton, thousands of aboriginal people will recount over the next four days their painful and often disturbing experience of living at residential schools.
Some of the aboriginal children were sexually and physically abused. All were taken from their families.
Today at noon, CBC will explore how accepting and acknowledging our residential school legacy can bring our communities together and make them stronger.
CBC will livestream the panel here at noon Thursday. Reporter Scott Lilwall will also live blog from the event.
Our "Circle of Change" panel features spiritual leader and Cree Elder Fred Campiou, contemporary Cree Metis artist Dawn Marie Marchand, Edmonton Mayor Don Iveson, and the Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton Richard Smith.
