Uqqummiut MLA missed orientation and morning of leadership forum
Uqqummiut MLA Samuel Nuqingaq has been disciplined by the legislative assembly's Management and Services Board for missing two days of orientation last week and the morning of the leadership forum.
The board says recoveries will be made from his allowances for the absences.
“It is our hope that the member will reflect on his actions and his obligations to his constituents,” said Speaker George Qulaut, chair of the Management Services Board, in a news release.
Nuqingaq won the Uqqummiut seat by 2 votes after a judicial recount. He's the first MLA to come from the community of Qikiqtarjuaq.
Nuqingaq apologized for his absences in the legislature on Tuesday.
