Jack Anawak charged with driving while prohibited
The vice-president of Nunavut Tunngavik is facing a charge of driving while prohibited.
The matter for 62-year-old Jack Anawak was spoken to in court this morning. Anawak himself did not appear in court.
The incident is alleged to have taken place in Iqaluit on June 17.
Anawak was prohibited from driving for two years after he was found guilty in February of driving while impaired. He was also fined $1,000 at that time.
Anawak is a former member of Parliament, a former Nunavut cabinet minister and former ambassador of circumpolar affairs.
He will next appear in court before a Justice of the Peace on July 4.
