Dale Hodges, Calgary's longest serving alderman, said on Friday he will not be seeking re-election in October’s civic vote.
Hodges is currently serving his tenth term for Ward 1.
Hodges has been in office for thirty years and sits on numerous boards and committees, including transit, planning and the Calgary Parking Authority.
Mayor Naheed Nenshi described Hodges as amazing and said he will miss him.
