Calgary MP Rob Anders says the reason he fell asleep in question period earlier this month is because of a recent car accident.
A YouTube video of Anders nodding off in the House of Commons on Nov. 17 has become a sensation online, with almost 60,000 views by Friday night.
Anders responded via email to a constituent who had inquired about the incident.
"I was hit by a 18 wheel truck three weeks ago and the resulting whiplash has been taking a toll on me," Anders wrote.
His constituency office said the collision occurred "out east" about three weeks ago.
