Former Chief Health Officer weighs in on woman jailed for tuberculosis

A woman with tuberculosis spent a month in jail under a public health order. Coming up, a registered nurse who works with tuberculosis patients talks about the stigmas facing those with the disease.

Tina Campbell is a Registered Nurse and a tuberculosis advisor for the Northern Inter Tribal Health Authority.


The province's chief medical officer signed a directive banning incarcerating someone under the Public Health Act. Joel Kettner is an Associate Professor at the University of Manitoba in the College of Medicine.

He joins us to talk about the act -- what it can do, what it can't do, and what it should do, to keep the public safe.
