Strong and free, Indigenous women have always played vital, valued roles in their communities. Nonetheless, Western culture has forever stereotyped them as in need of being “saved” by the white man. The Pocahontas character popularized by Disney is the ultimate example of this. Mamu, together, we’ll decolonize this stereotype and change how Indigenous Peoples are perceived.
