Looking for that special something to sweep your space into the new season? Instead of splurging on store-bought fare that you'll have to retire in a few weeks, why not make your own autumn accent in the form of these DIY paint-dipped paddles? Use any colour palette that strikes your fancy — or matches your existing decor — and play with patterns to create customized wall art that's truly one of a kind. Pup not included (sorry).
Here's what you need:
- Wood paddles
- Sandpaper
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Painter's tape
- Acrylic paint (in colours of choice)
- Wood varnish
Here's how to do it:
- Take sandpaper and carefully sand down the blade of your paddle until smooth.
- Using a ruler, pencil and painter's tape, create your own pattern or design on the front side of your paddle blade.
- Using acrylic paint and a paintbrush, paint around taped sections in colours of your choice. Don't forget about the side edges of your paddle blade while doing this!
- Leave to dry.
- Gently brush varnish over paddle blade and leave to dry.
- Hang and enjoy!
