Trail mix can get a bad rap, because sometimes it's a glorified candy mix. However, this recipe from registered dietitian Christy Brissette is actually healthy and even includes chocolate! A secret to diminishing the calories per handful? Throw in some high fibre cereal — it adds a great little crunch, too. With only 5 ingredients, this snack is sweet,satisfying and perfect for those afternoon cravings.
Ingredients
- 1 cup raw almonds
- 1 cup raw pumpkin seeds
- 1 cup dried cranberries
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips or chunks
- 1 cup cereal with psyllium fibre
Preparation
Mix all ingredients together. Store in zipper seal bags, resealable containers or mason jars. Feel free to replace the ingredients with whatever you have on hand following the guide of nuts, seeds, dried fruit, cereal and something fun!
