One of a kind items can add so much personality to a room. Flea markets and antique shops are a great way to pick up pieces that will help you curate a unique style for your home. Sourcing interesting pieces for a DIY is always a fun idea, and is also the perfect way to create a really unique piece of decor.

Steven shared his dog lamp DIY with The Goods – it's super simple, and you can make one too.

What you'll need:

  • Primer
  • Spray paint
  • Lamp kit
  • Flea market find (Dog) *It must be hollow
  • Lampshade
  • Drill
  • Painters tape

Directions:

1. Prime your flea market finds.

2. Cut a small hole in the top – this is where the lampshade will go.

3. Next, cut a large hole in the back so there's space for the cord to come through.

4. Tape the inside of the lampshade with painters tape.

5. Spray paint your flea market find and the outside of the lampshade.

6. Allow your DIY to cure 24 hours.

7. Feed the lighting kit through the flea market find and secure as per the lamp kit instruction manual. All lighting kits are different, so be sure to follow the specific instructions for the one you've purchased.

8. Secure the lampshade to the hearth and display!
