Game night just got tastier with these mouth-watering Smash Burgers. We’ve shared the formula for our secret sauce with you, but be sure to keep your guests guessing.
Ingredients
Burgers:
- 1 lb good quality ground beef
- 2 tbsp yellow mustard
- Kosher salt and black pepper
Burger sauce:
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- ¼ cup ketchup
- 1 dill pickle, grated
- 2 tsp grainy mustard
- 1 tbsp dehydrated onion flakes
- 1 tsp pickle brine
- 2 dashes hot sauce or Tabasco
- Kosher salt and black pepper
To serve:
- 2 sesame seed buns
- 2 slices good quality cheese
- 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
- 1 tomato, thinly sliced
Preparation
Burger sauce:
Combine all ingredients and season to taste. Can be made the day before and stored in the refrigerator.
Burgers:
Divide the meat into four equal portions, do not overhandle. Preheat cast iron griddle or large skillet over high heat. Place each ball of meat on the hot griddle and press down using a large metal spatula and tongs or a panini press.
Cook for 45 seconds to 1 minute, until crispy and brown. Flip burgers over, making sure to scrape up any crispy bits. Top cooked side with mustard and 1 slice of cheese, cook for 15 seconds. Place two of the patties top of the other ones, so you have two double cheese patties.
Remove from heat, place on buns, garnish with Burger sauce and enjoy!
