Don't call it a trend – Athleisure is super fashionable and it's here to stay
Style expert Mila Yudina on how to make this look work for you
The tracksuit is back and it's not just for the gym. It can be hard to find a wearable look that offers style and function. Luckily, style expert Mila Yudina has the solution.
Although athleisure is everywhere right now, it's no longer trendy – it's here to stay. Much like another hot look that's founds its way back into our wardrobes, the tracksuit has been in and out of style for decades. It became mainstream in the 70s and re-emerged as a baggier, more colourful version of itself in the 80's and 90s. Paris Hilton made the Juicy Couture version a must-have in the early 2000s and although it looks a little different these days, the tracksuit has proven it has some serious staying power. Here's how to work an updated one in three very stylish ways.
Suit your day
This is such an easy look, and mixing everyday fabrics with sport fabrics makes this a modern daytime go-to. Break up a tracksuit by paring the tracksuit top with a skirt, simple tee, and casual runners. Mixing textures with simple, classic items is key. This is perfect for running errands, or for work – and you can incorporate a leather baseball cap to really elevate the look.

Run the night
Make athleisure work for night. Pair a piece of athletic wear with formal pieces to give a dressy outfit a more relaxed feel. This look pairs tear-away pants with a metallic woven tank and satin pink heels for the perfect outfit for a night out. Mixing sporty pieces with luxe fabrics helps to keep it looking chic, and adding high heels keeps the look cohesive.
Finish it off with some simple accessories such as a formal evening bag and a pair of gold hoops to keep it refined.

Work it out
This is an updated version of the tracksuit. With clean, long lines – much like a jumpsuit – you can pair it with cute runners (or even heels!) for the perfect daytime look. Fit is key with this head-to-toe casual look, so opt for a lightweight style for a super easy all-day outfit. This is perfect for busy moms, and Olympians! Co-host of Olympic Games Overnight on CBC, Kelly VanderBeek shows off this look and pairs it with a day bag for added convenience.
