'As Seen on TV' gadgets: Which kitchen tools are really worth the buy?
There are a ton of products on the market that claim to save you time — and trouble — in the kitchen. We took four of the most popular 'As Seen on TV' gadgets and tested them to find out if they make the cut, or if you should skip that spend!
Angry Mama
The Claim: This redhead is a hot-tempered lady who can't stand the sight of a dirty microwave. She retails for approximately $16.99. She claims to clean the toughest stains and to deodorize your microwave, too. All she needs is some water, vinegar and a dash of lemon juice. Pop her in the microwave for 7 minutes and your stains will so be easy to scrub away.
Our verdict: Skip this spend. Angry Mama made us sad. We were left with a dirty microwave that required a lot of elbow grease to clean away.
The Veggetti
The Claim: The Veggetti was invented to turn your veggies into the perfect spaghetti, sans those pesky carbs. Marked at $19.99, it claims to be fast and it promises to be easy. Simply twist the whatever vegetable you like into the gadget. All you need is a tubular shaped veggie of your choice to make a quick, healthy meal.
Our verdict: This one makes the cut! It was quick and easy, taking just seconds to make spaghetti strands! Worth the spend if you want to enjoy pasta without the added calories.
All Open
The Claim: Now, the All Open says it can replace 8 kitchen tools. For just $14.99, this gadget promises to open wine bottles, jars, soda cans — you name it. It also functions as a wine stopper and can sealer, too!
Our verdict: Skip this spend. The All Open is not very user friendly. In most cases it was faster to use our hands to open jars and bottles than to use the All Open!
The Stretch and Fresh
The Claim: The Stretch and Fresh claims to keep your leftovers fresh by providing an airtight seal. The seal is so tight that no matter what you place in your container, you can turn upside down and there will be NO spillage! These are reuseable food wraps so no more plastic wrap needed!
Our verdict: This one is worth the buy. Everyone was able to seal their containers, and even did the turn over test, but all food from soup to spaghetti stayed in place!
