We love a good life hack here at The Goods, and always aim to share the ones that will make life a little easier, whether it's showing you how to pack like a seasoned traveller, how to throw the perfect party, or even keep your closet in check. But this set of hacks is designed to help you look your most stylish, even when you're in a rush to get out the door. From saving your wool and cashmere from the drier, to shaving time off your morning routine, here are five quick tricks to help you — or the man in your life — look perfectly polished in just minutes.

A fold to keep your suit unwrinked

This is a hack for anyone that has to wear suit jackets and are always on the go. Whether you're traveling for work, or trying to keep your blazer in a perfect, unwrinkled condition while you're at the gym, this is a folding hack for you.

Here's how to do it:

1. Pop one of the shoulders inside out.

2. Take the other shoulder and fold it back into the nook created by the popped-out shoulder. The inside of jacket should now be facing outward.

3. Fold the jacket so the front of the lapels and sleeves are lined up.

4. The jacket can now either be folded or rolled to keep its shape.

5. Feel free to place tube socks in the fold to ensure there is no crease, and it's packed away in style!

A salad spinner to save your wools

This is the perfect hack for those delicate items that need to be hand-washed, and then hung to dry or laid flat to dry. This can take forever, especially when you're in a rush. Not to mention, when you're hand-washing and wringing the water out, you're actually creating wrinkles that you'll have to press out once the item is dried. No one has time for this. So this is the solution for those delicate cashmere or wool items that require a little TLC.

Here's how to do it:

1. Place your (pre-hand-washed) sweater and put it in your salad spinner.

2. Spin it dry for about 30 seconds.

3. Once done, remove the water. Repeat the cycle if needed.

4. Take garment out and lay it flat on a towel. This prevents the item from stretching like it would if you hung it to air dry.

A quick, last-minute shoe shine

You're preparing your outfit the night before a big meeting, and you realize that your leather shoes are scuffed and a complete mess. So much for putting your best foot forward! You obviously don't have time to take your shoes to get polished, and you don't have any polish in the house. But this hack can change how this story ends with a quick solution to put the shine back in your step.

Here's how to do it:

1. Make sure your shoes are clean and free from dirt because you don't want to seal in any dirt with the oil.

2. Pour a tiny amount of olive oil into a small bowl.

3. Using a clean microfibre cloth, dip into the bowl, and rub a small amount of the 'polish' into your shoes.

4. Allow it to soak in for a minute.

5. Remove the excess olive oil and buff with a clean microfibre cloth, and enjoy your shiny shoes!

A post-shaving nick treatment

This is for all the men that nick themselves when shaving and still opt for that old school trick of putting a piece of toilet paper to try to get the bleeding to stop. This is such a dated 'technique' and can lead to horrible scabs. Here's how to fix to those pesky shaving nicks and cuts in the modern world.

Here's how to do it:

1. Place eye drops on the nick. The drops work similarly to red eye relievers: they slow down bleeding by constricting blood vessels so they'll help stop the bleeding from your cut.

2. Wait for it to dry, and if you're in a rush, dab the excess liquid from the eye drop.

3. Once dried, seal the nick so it can stay clean and not create a scab.

4. Place either petroleum jelly or an unscented lip balm on the spot.

A paper clip trick to finally keep that collar in place

Basic men's dress shirts have a pocket under the collar for something called a ''collar stay" to be placed in. Some dress shirts come with plastic ones, or you can buy metal ones. They help the collar lie flat against the collarbone, and keep it in the correct place while looking crisp — but they're so tiny and easy to lose. So to hack your way through this problem, just use a large paper clip as your collar stay. Simple and elegant!
