3 creative, functional ways to style your console table
Console tables are super versatile pieces that have become a staple in most foyers. You know, the place where you dump your keys, your mail, the contents of your pockets. However, there's actually a lot that you can do with your console table, once you find the right one.
Since you'll want your furniture to stand the test of time, it's important to invest in a console table that is classic rather than trendy, like the one we chose from ELTE. This piece has a simple, traditional silhouette, but is outfitted with leather and bronze accents to make it unique.
To give you some design inspo, we're showing how one console table can be transformed to accomplish three very different styles and functions.
Modern and edgy
The standout of this look is the neon sign from Black Rooster, which adds a splash of trendiness above the console's classic frame. We placed an oversized vase and banana leaves on the left side to play with scale and balance out the items on the right. The tray and books (right) help to ground the floating sign and mirror, while bringing in personality and practicality.
Traditional
For this look, we used the exact same table, but made it feel more traditional with a couple key elements. First, we framed the piece with sconces, which help to add symmetry while acting as functional light sources. Then, we tucked small ottomans below the table. These can double as seating to help people put on their shoes, but fit easily underneath while not in use. The stunning ornate mirror centred above the table is an eye-catching piece that adds a touch of glam to our classic aesthetic. Finally, we added a traditional chair from Union Lighting to complete the look.
Multifunctional
While console tables work great in an entranceway, they can do so much more if you need them to! This piece is narrow enough to push against the back of a sofa, displaying books, vases and other decorative accessories. When placed behind your sofa, the table can serve as a room divider in an open concept layout, or even just an oblong living room with two different living spaces. Plus, you can add a chair and table lamp to the exact same setup and it doubles as a desk!
