The sophisticated backpack
Spotted at: Marni, Sacaii, Loewe
What to look for: Luxurious leathers, structured styles, a handbag shape with backpack straps.
Why we love it: This type of bag is perfect for someone who needs the functionality of a backpack with the style of a briefcase or handbag.

Cinch bags
Spotted at: Marni, Alexander Wang, and Derek Lam
What to look for: Drawstring closure, fabrics such as (faux) leather, or (faux) exotic skins.
Why we love it: This isn't your typical nylon drawstring bag! We love the mix of a sport style drawstring bag, made with high-end materials and fabrics.

3D Florals
Spotted at: Tory Burch, Coach, Monique L'Hullier
What to look for: Handbags with floral cutouts, and/or floral appliques attached
Why we love it: The 3D florals add a touch of luxury that is usually reserved for couture or high end garments and accessories. So why not add an elevated element to your purse for spring.

The mini cross body
Spotted at: Coach, Chloe, Fendi
What to look for: A micro mini version of your regular handbag, with long straps to wear over the shoulder or across the body.
Why we love it: The larger the purse, the more that goes into it. These mini bags are great for days when you're on the go, or simply don't want to carry much around with you.
Left to Right: Runway image Chloe, mini crossbody H&M $39.99, mini banana crossbody bag ZARA $29.90.
Haute handles
Spotted at: Chloe, Givenchy, Michael Kors
What to look for: Handles with circular graphic shapes, or handbags with oversized ring closures/clasps.
Why we love it: Inspired by handbags from the past, ring shaped handles add a bit of retro quirk and fun to simple styles.
Left to Right: Runway image Michael Kors, handbag conscious collection H&M $39.99, small Nile bracelet handbag CHLOE @ NORDSTROM.COM $2144, crossbody bag OPENING CEREMONY @ HUDSON'S BAY $525.
Geometric colourblock bag
Spotted at: Mulberry, Thom Browne, Off White
What to look for: Structured handbags with a simple geometric print, or accents in alternating colourblocked colours. Look for styles with features cut on an angle for a more unique look.
Why we love it: Crisp lines and colourblocked stripes feel fresh for the new season, especially when adding an asymmetrical element to it.
Left to Right: Runway image Mulberry, asymmetric flap city bag ZARA $69.90, printed suede shoulder bag CLARE V @ NET-A-POTER.COM, structured handbag WINNERS.
Metallics
Spotted at: Altuzarra, Tomas Maier, Louis Vuitton
What to look for: Chrome or Silver reflective metallics on classic handbag shapes.
Why we love it: Metallics came in all shapes and sizes this season, and are not necessarily new to the game. The pairing of metallics on unexpected styles, however, is. Try a chrome on an oversized tote for instance, or on a classic handbag.
