The sweatshirt trend isn't going anywhere. Here are 10 of the most stylish out now.
The sweatshirt has quickly moved from mere gym wear or casual wear, to a permanent style fixture in the modern, fashionable man's wardrobe. The modern sweatshirt remains "comfy" with adjustments made to fit and design. In the main picture for this article, I am wearing one of my favourites – a grey sweatshirt from the now defunct New York based brand "Band of Outsiders." Being a longtime cinephile I was immediately won over by the embroidered "FIN" across the chest. The oversized or "anti-fit" trend that is happening right now can be seen in many of the sweatshirts on our curated list. It appears that the athleisure wave is still reverberating throughout the fashion-sphere and isn't going anywhere. Check out our list of 10 great sweatshirt options available now – because who doesn't want something in their wardrobe that can be both stylish and comfy as heck.
I've already scooped a couple of these, they've got the "Yeezy-esque" dropped shoulders without the "Yeezy-esque" price.
Grey sweatshirt, $19.99, at H&M.
I always love a good saying or word on a sweatshirt, and when you reference one half of Shakespeare's star-crossed lovers can you really go wrong?
Romeo sweatshirt, $35.95, at Zara.
This Champion sweatshirt pays homage to the sportswear roots of the heritage brand, and is made to last. The more you wear it the better more broken-in it becomes. Better-with-age pieces always get the thumbs up!
Champion sweatshirt, $55, at Lost & Found.
Not just for the athletic "gym guy", this Nike tech fleece crewneck is both fashionable and functional. I love the ultra-modern clean seams and laser-cut lines. Plus, you can never go wrong with jet black.
Nike Tech Fleece crew, $110, at Haven.
If you are an avid skier or snowboarder, or if you celebrate your Negative Nancy rep, this HUF sweatshirt could be up your alley. This could be the "apres ski" conversation starter you been looking for.
HUF sweatshirt, $120, at Deadstock.
"It" brand Gosha Rubchinskiy's offering is a perfect example of "what is old is new again". The Moscow-based designer's current collection pays tribute to classic italian sportswear and this FILA sweatshirt is exhibit A.
Gosha Fila sweatshirt, $200, at Nomad.
Italian sportswear brand Stone Island has experienced quite the resurgence these last couple of years, thanks in part to the rise of streetwear in fashion culture. This Stone Island sweatshirt's coral pink hue is on point and is the perfect spring transition piece.
Stone Island sweatshirt, $230, at Working Title.
In the fashion forward vein we have this Moncler x Off-White sweatshirt featuring Off-White's signature bold diagonal graphic pattern. Italian brand Moncler's all-orange crest is quite minimal and understated. The contrasting design philosophies are very different, but compliment each other nicely.
Moncler x Off-White, $479, at END.
New York based designer Alexander Wang's sweatshirt iteration is simple and clean, featuring a "girls" graphic embroidered on the left chest. I'm a big fan of black and pink colour combinations, so needless to say this one is a winner in my books. One could call the design serendipitous since it is also the last season of a certain popular HBO show with the same moniker.
Alexander Wang "girls" sweatshirt, $560, at CNTRBND.
Here we have the Gucci sweatshirt worn by many celebrities and hip-hop artists recently. I love the use of classic Gucci logo designs on this sweatshirt – so old in fact, that one might think it's a fake or "knockoff." Walking the line between "fake" and "real" only adds to the charm of this one. The price on the other hand, well that's a different story. *SIGH*
Gucci sweatshirt, $1255, at SSense.
