Your wedding is right around the corner and you've kicked the planning into high gear. Is your seating chart done? Has the caterer been paid? With so much on your mind, it's easy to put yourself on the back burner. Which is why I'm stepping in to remind you to make some time to pamper yourself before your big day — because when you look your best, you feel your best! Sure, we can all invest in a good eye cream and a get fresh new fade, but this is your wedding — it's time to step it up. Whether you're a groom, groomsman or an honoured guest, here are the treatments that will get you looking big-day-ready.

Manicure

I'm often shocked (and saddened) at how many of my male friends have never gotten a manicure. If you haven't tried it… try one. Today. And don't argue with me. Manicures make a huge difference, are relatively affordable and you should consider making a habit of getting them throughout the year. Especially as your wedding day approaches. Wouldn't you agree that a wedding ring, the symbol of eternal love, deserves to slide over a perfectly cut and filed fingernail? I thought so. If you're new to the nail game, here's a handful of tips (pun intended) to get you started: Ask the ladies in your life where they go — chances are they've been to more than you have, and can recommend the best places in your area. Once you're inside, keep sanitation in mind. Beware of estheticians that use the same tools on everybody without sanitizing them. All stainless steel tools (cuticle scissors, nail clippers) should be disinfected before each use. Depending on where you go, they might also reuse nail files — don't be shy to ask for a fresh one. Your hands will look so fresh and clean, you'll probably be able to become a hand model to pay for the honeymoon.

Pedicure

Now that your fingernails are in top shape, it's time to go south and focus on your toenails. Most nail salons will offer a mani/pedi package — take advantage of it. All of the same rules above apply for a pedicure. Come wedding day, you're going to be on your feet for a long time. And no matter how much you spent on those "comfortable" dress shoes, your feet are going to feel the weight of a very long day. So make it up to them in advance with a pedicure to moisturize the skin, trim the nails, treat the cuticles and control those rock hard calluses. Warning: not for the extremely ticklish.

Eyebrow threading

You know what they say… a unibrow on your wedding day means 7 years bad luck. Ok, I just made that up, but only because I'm very passionate about this issue. If you can get away with plucking out a few rogue hairs with tweezers, then great, you're gifted. If not, try threading. It's a technique that involves rolling twisted thread over the brows to remove the hair. It's said to be the least painful of all the hair removal options out there. If anything, just please avoid waxing your brows, especially before a big event. It can be harsh on the skin and probably unnecessary considering the minimal amount of hair you'll be removing. The experts at the salon can even suggest a brow shape that will compliment your face quite nicely. You'll be a new man!

Nose hair waxing

Just when you thought I was against waxing... plot twist! I'm all for a good wax when it's as entertaining as the trendy new nose hair waxing treatments. Videos of men with sticks of wax tearing out every single one of their nose hairs have gone viral online, if you want to see what you're getting yourself into. As dramatic as it sounds, many salons, such as Canadian owned and operated, Waxon WaxBar, promise pain free hair removal. Sure, your nose hair clippers will clean you up on a surface level, but a waxing will remove everything, and clear the hallways for better airflow. Microdermabrasion

Another pre-wedding ritual I would recommend getting into is microdermabrasion. It's the process of exfoliating dead and dull skin off the face to brighten you up. Imagine your face is a wooden deck with chipped and winter-worn paint that needs to be sanded off to make way for a fresh new coat. That's basically what we're doing here. Don't be scared, it doesn't hurt at all, I promise. Microdermabrasion will improve the tone and texture of your skin, while reducing fine lines, wrinkles, age spots and sun damage. It's also one of those treatments that provides more benefit, the more often you do it. So when you book your first appointment and they try to get you to purchase a package, they aren't scamming you — they're helping you. Since you are literally shaving the top layer of skin off your face, you'll be left with a little bit of redness, so you're not going to want to do it days before the wedding. Plan this out at least a week in advance.

Cold laser facial

Treat your skin like you treat your fiancée: show it some love and attention for rewarding benefits. I want you to have glowing, radiant skin on your wedding day — so consider pampering yourself with a cold laser facial. Created by founder Lorinda Zimmerman for W Skincare, these non-invasive facials are now offered east and west. The cold laser (completely painless, by the way) "penetrates down to the sub-dermal layers of your skin to oxygenate the tissue while increasing collagen production". Fancy, right? For you beginners out there, collagen is a natural protein found in the body, and it breaks down over time as we age. For younger looking skin, you want to trick the body into producing more of it. Enter cold laser. The coolest thing about this treatment (pun intended again) is that the collagen production continues even after your session, meaning you'll notice increased skin radiance in the weeks that follow! And with zero down time, you could literally get one an hour before the wedding if you really wanted to! Another fun fact: the now famous Toronto location was a favourite of the newest member of the royal family, Meghan Markle, while she was filming Suits. If it's good enough for her, it's good enough for you.

Teeth whitening

All of that extra coffee to stay up late planning the wedding is going to take a toll on your pearly whites. As will all that red wine you drank at dinner to celebrate your engagement. So treat yourself to teeth whitening before the big day. Most marriages result in couples smiling ear to ear, so show off those clean, white teeth with pride. If you have the patience to sit with a strips on your teeth for 20 minutes a day, the drug store products have come along way and provide great results. If you want a quick fix, scour Groupon for some good teeth whitening deals — there's never a shortage.

Stress relieving massage

Feeling a little stressed before your wedding? There's a lot to think about, and that stress will sneak up on you in the form of muscle tension and headaches. I understand. The mere thought of seeing my Mom cry at my wedding gives me neck pain. So fight back with a relaxing, stress relieving massage. Sure, they can be costly, but make an event out of it with all of your groomsmen for a day and make some memories. There are tons of good massage options out there, but I recommend looking for spas that offer aromatherapy massages to take your stress relief to the next level.
