The best Canadian celebrity Halloween costumes of 2019
Killer looks from stars like Drake, Nina Dobrev and Winnie Harlow
It was a blast scrolling Instagram for this year's best Halloween costumes by familiar Canadian faces because they really brought some great inspo to the table. Some were sexy, others quirky, many referenced other celebs or pop culture moments from this year. And there was a lot of intricate face painting and makeup.
Tell us your favourites in the comments below.
Nina Dobrev
She's definitely not a 'bad guy' in our books but actress Nina Dobrev showed out in her best Billie Eilish look. All it took was a baggy orange Louis Vutton sweater, orange swim shorts, exaggerated runny mascara and Billie's signature neon-coloured roots. This wasn't Nina's only costume, the Degrassi alum also dressed up as the chanel runway crasher! Nailed it!
Winnie Harlow
The 25 year old model recreated not one, but two iconic Marilyn Monroe looks. First, a look paying homage to one of Monroe's many white fur coat moments, followed by a masterful depiction of Marilyn Monroe's unforgettable "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" pink satin gown from the film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. She also hit the town for a Halloween party last weekend dressed as cheerleader barbie. For that costume she wore pieces from David Grutman's Prince Yacht Club collection.
Stephen Amell
Arrow star Stephen Amell and his wife Cassandra Jean hit up the Casamigos party in Beverly Hills. He was dressed as a hotdog and his wife as a can of beans. Trained pop culturists would recognize the costumes as a hilarious (and painful) There's Something About Mary reference, with Amell's Instagram caption hint: "Son… is it the frank or the beans?"
Serinda Swan
The star of CBC's Coroner couldn't help but clown around this Halloween. Looks like she went to a party in Toronto! The normally short-coiffed Swan wore a black wig, a white bow-tie neck blouse and some wicked face pace to pull off the look. She posed beside Toronto interior designer Lindsay Bell, who also wore a clown costume. Swan is currently filming season 2 of Coroner.
Drake
Guys, drake went as his dad Dennis Graham for Halloween! In a supposedly unplanned costume, he wore Dennis' signature heavy moustache, along with a white shirt and pants, dark-rimmed glasses and, of course, a white knitted skull cap. Looks like Drake kept his fake moustache from he and French Montana's No Shopping video! Glad to see father and son together again after some tense moments earlier this month.
Lilly Singh
Lilly Singh is no stranger to wearing costumes. This week she pulled out a few lewks on her show A Little Late with Lilly Singh. But one in particular takes the cake. On Wednesday night Singh dressed as Patriot Act host Hasan Minhaj for the entire show. She sported a mustard sweater, black pants and a pretty spot-on wig and beard. In a freaky moment she also facetimed the comedian host… while dressed as him!
Charmsie
Canadian influencers delivered some fab looks this Halloween. A big favourite has got to be style/DIY content creator Charmsie. She was magically delicious as a Lucky Charms cereal fashionista. Wearing a seafoam green robe coat, a bowler hat of the same colour and a chained cereal box tote bag. Genius! Then she took us back to our childhood channeling Ms. Frizzle from The Magic School Bus!
Vanessa Morgan
Riverdale star Vanessa Morgan took a stab at the mistress of evil and killed it! The Ottawa native's take on Maleficent was simply a black bodysuit with a large keyhole front, fishnets, thigh high black boots and a cape. But I absolutely loved the signature horns with her hair cleverly bumped into the band. How wonderful!
Tatiana Maslany
Tatiana made no bones about it when she rocked a skeleton costume to rapper Megan Thee Stallion's HottieWeen party. Maslany sported a simple skeleton bodysuit and matching gloves, as she playfully posed with friend Adam Kopp. Calling them "Hottie Potter and someone who came from under the ground and all over."
Jessi Cruickshank
Media personality Jessi Cruickshank had the most adorable accessories for Halloween. She dressed her twins as air pods… left and right! Apple boss Time Cook even retweet her post.
