There's a hot crop of beauty products to carry us into summer, and lip treatments and stay-put colour lead the way. This month sees the launch of a few lip-hydrating treatments, as well as a new mass market lippy that will.not.budge. But that's not all. Research-backed scalp treatments and a bronzer that works gradually while you snooze round out a list of beauty products that might be literal game-changers. Here are a few, soon-to-be cult fave launches that you'll want to try.

Lip service

Did you know that moisture evaporates faster from our lips than it does from the rest of the face? You can blame that on lips not having oil glands, as well as the fact that saliva is drying and lips only have three to five layers of skin, versus 16 on the rest of the face. Dermalogica's latest addition sets out to restore moisture to lips while filling in the fine lines around the mouth. Infused with Indian Gentian extract to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, sesame seed extract to smooth and decrease nasiolabial fold lines (laugh lines!), and glycerin to help enhance hydration), this nightly treatment works to combat many first signs of aging.

Infused with hazelnut and jojoba, the oils come in seven inspired-by-nature tints, each with their own nourishing properties. Perfect for summer, lips will look plumper with just a hint of colour. Hollywood's favourite makeup artist has done it again. Charlotte Tilbury's new overnight bronzing mask is not only chalk full of skin conditioning ingredients, but it actually creates a lovely, gradual bronze while you sleep. Build up colour over the course of a few nights if you choose, or simply apply once a week for a little hint of summer.

Love locks

Hair companies have been spending some major research dollars on the scalp over the last few years. And now Aveda is putting that research out to consumers by introducing the Pramãsana Scalp Care collection. Prama, meaning foundation in Sanskrit, and Asana, a sitting based position in yoga, embodies the idea of a healthy scalp to prop up even healthier hair. The three step DIY treatment includes a self-massaging scalp brush (SO good!), as well as the scalp cleanser (containing wintergreen derived salicylic acid to exfoliate and invigorate) which goes on before you shampoo and the protective concentrate, which you apply after your shower before you style. Using all three in tandem can help contribute to shinier, thicker hair, as well as controlling dandruff. For an extra treat, you can also head into a select Aveda salons for a scalp massage and masque.

Aveda Pramãsana Scalp Care Exfoliating Scalp Brush, $25.50, Purifying Scalp Cleanser, $42, Protective Scalp Concentrate, $57, available at Aveda Experience Centres, Aveda Salons across Canada, and aveda.ca

Lash out

A new addition to M.A.C's permanent makeup collection, the new Bold & Bad Lash Mascara is a lash lover's dream. With two chambers, the bigger brush delivers a bold look to your top lashes, covering every lash with its lengthening and volumizing formula from base to tip thanks to the lush, full brush. The second chamber contains a thinner bristle brush, perfect for smaller lashes on the bottom lid. No matter where you place it, expect full on lashes that last all day without smudging.

Stay put pout

A lot of lipsticks boast about their longwear formula. Some are great, some are not so great (think drying, caking etc.). But the latest from Maybelline is a new take on budge-proof. To prove it, the Maybelline team hosted a slew of editors and writers at a SoulCycle spin class one sunny afternoon to take the new lippy for a v. v. sweaty test drive. My shade of choice, Lover, did.not.move. When conversing with other attendees, their hues stuck around as well. This new formulation is also non-drying (for real!) and requires an oil-based product for removal. Hot tip: careful when eating oily food like pizza, but otherwise, expect 16-hour colour from these bad gals.

Maybelline New York SuperStay Matte Ink Lipcolor, $11.99, available online at maybelline.ca and at drugstores and mass market retailers from June 20, 2017.
