New Year, new beauty products for you to get into
The latest launches to up your pampering game
While many of us hope to be better versions of ourselves once the clock strikes midnight on January 1, we can quickly become disheartened when we fail to stick to resolutions beyond the first month of the year. One thing you can do for yourself? If you're into beauty, you can commit to a healthier skincare routine or freshening up your look for 2019, by simply dipping daily into a better pool of products, like these.
One in a million
Finding the best all-natural deodorant to work with your body chemistry is like finding that great pair of heels at Winners or Marshall's — doable, but it takes time, effort and a little bit of luck. Deodorants help to stop the sometimes-unpleasant odor that emanates from our pits, but they don't stop you from actually sweating. Antiperspirants have gotten a bad rap, rightfully so, because they contain aluminum salts. Green Beaver Antiperspirant is aluminum free, comes in five scents, and promise to help stop those pesky pit stains, while conditioning the skin under your arms. It lands in stores around January 23, 2019. And we're into it!.
Green Beaver Antiperspirant, $15, greenbeaver.com, well.ca and in natural health stores across Canada
That old/new
Riding the monochrome beauty wave, MAC dug into their archives and re-released a series of one-colour collections to help you match your lips to your cheeks to your eyes. With old favourites like Ruby Woo (Rihanna is just one big-name fan), as well as Velvet Teddy and See Sheer, the range consists of lipstick, lipglass, powder blush, and matte and frost eye shadows, so you can really channel the Chalayan and Savage x Fenty Spring 2019 runway looks and make them all your own.
M∙A∙C In Monochrome, $19 to $28, maccosmetics.ca on January 10, 2019 and in select stores January 19, 2019
Nourish me
We're in the thick of winter now, but that doesn't mean our skin can handle a super thick moisturizer, right? Celebrating almost 100 years in the skincare biz, green beauty brand Weleda is also celebrating their award-winning, longtime beauty-editor favourite, Skin Food line, with some new staples, including a 'Light Nourishing Cream' — a less weighty version of their original cream that goes on smooth while delivering some intense hydration . Made with all-stars like rosemary leaf extract (for revitalizing and stimulating skin), pansy extract (to soothe and moisturize), calendula (a botanical rich in carotenoids, flavonoids and essential oils), its aromatic scent will be as welcoming to your complexion as the aforementioned hydrating ingredients.

Restoring skin's glow has a lot to do with helping it retain moisture. Enter Indie Lee's new Daily Vitamin Infusion serum, made with vitamins A, C and E, as well as hydrating botanicals like rosemary leaf and sugar cane-derived squalene. Like most oil serums, make sure to prep skin after cleansing with a spritz of toner, as the water will help the oil emulsify and sink beyond the surface of the skin.

One such brand, Love, Beauty & Planet has quite a few launches in store for the beginning of 2019, but the one we're most excited about is the new Coconut & Jasmine hairspray. Not only does it smell divine, but the spray is powered by air, not harmful propellants, and it doesn't contain alcohol, has not been tested on animals and is made with nourishing coconut milk. And each product is housed in a 100 per cent recyclable container.

Retinol has been hailed as an anti-aging hero, known to help even out skin tone, reduce lines and wrinkles, and bring back skin's bounce, but it is also often associated with redness and flaking. SkinCeuticals created an 'entry-level' retinol, made with a low amount of the skin-perfecting star ingredient. It also has soothing ingredients like bisabolol and boswellia serrata extract to help combat any irritation that might occur regardless.
