Super hydrating skin saviours? Check. Highly-pigmented shades? Also, check. And soon-to-be hair favourites. Yep, we got 'em. With the New Year comes a plethora of new products to add to our lists of indulgent must-haves.

Looking forward to a beautiful 2018!

Lip service

One of the least talked about reasons behind why our skin ages is the fact that our hormonal fluctuations each month, and through the different stages of our life, affect how we look on the outside. Turning the skincare industry on its head, sisters Rebecca Booth M.D., a leading gynecologist and hormonal wellness expert, and beauty industry vet Cecil Booth, applied their combined knowledge to create VENeffect, available in Canada this month. The drop of estrogen as we age has a direct correlation to significant loss of skin elasticity and reduced luminosity. With this in mind, the brand, which the duo took seven years to develop, utilizes the power of phytoestrogens from seeds, nuts and roots to pump their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects into the skin. The star product, for us anyway, is the lip treatment. Despite the price tag it's a must, because this super hydrating lotion will work wonders on the soft skin of your pout and its peripheral for many months.

Colour protector

If you dye your hair, you know how colour can often fade or turn brassy if you're not using the right shampoo. This month Maui Moisture, which uses moisturizing aloe juice as its base, is launching the Color Protection + Sea Minerals collection. Expect mermaid-smooth strands thanks to sea botanicals such as minerals, sea kelp and algae.

Maui Moisture Color Protection + Sea Minerals Shampoo and Conditioner, $10.99 each, local drug stores and other major retailers across Canada

A good foundation

Burt's Bees is adding to their line of ethical beauty. The brand, which has always included coloured lip balms and sticks, have now ventured into foundation, blush, eyeshadow, mascara and more. The foundation, a full-coverage, hydrating formula, contains responsibly sourced meadowfoam, leaves a glowy finish, and is available in 12 shades — and we are major fans!

Bare necessity

From cult favourite brand Eve Lom comes their latest must-buy, Radiance Face Oil. Full of hydrating goodness, like hemp seed, abyssinian and avocado oils, this luxe oil works to calm, soothe and illuminate the complexion, while it reduces the appearance of fine lines around the eyes and lips. (Adds to cart immediately!)

The ultimate detox

Made with Montmorillonite clay (one of the purest, most mineral-rich clays in the world, found in Southwestern France) and snail mucin (which contains allantoin, a natural compound that is anti-inflammatory and helps to enforce the skin's natural healing capabilities), this overnight mask, when used twice a week, works to detoxify the skin, fade dark spots and brings about a brighter complexion. For this wonder, make sure to tap the product into the skin with the tips of your fingers, do not rub in.

Texture by nature

Drugstore fave OGX has just launched a few new collections, but we're most excited for their take on dry shampoo, of which there are two. The Protecting + Silk version is made with rose powder and silk extracts for smooth locks, and the Bodifying + Bamboo Fiber Full Body Boost Dry Shampoo spray contains plant fibres and collagen to help plump up and texturize strands.

Their newest mascara, part of the Total Temptation collection that is housed in pretty matte coral packaging, is infused with the rich scent of coconut and will remind you of the beach and palm trees while it builds up your lashes. Natural selection

Deodorants made from all-natural ingredients may be easier to find on the market these days, but each formula works differently with each person's body chemistry, so it may take you a few tries to find one that suits you to perfection. The latest to land in Canada comes courtesy of The Detox Market, from Vapour Beauty. The AER Next-Level Deodorant is a concentrated gel-to-powder formula that contains organic arrowroot (to soften skin thanks to vitamins riboflavin, niacin and thiamin), organic essentials oils (like lavender, to soothe, balance and cleanse) and a small amount of baking soda for absorption.
