Celebrating The Simpsons' 30th anniversary with our favourite fashion moments

Everyone grew up with The Simpsons, and everyone has a style moment etched into their brains.

Everyone grew up with The Simpsons, and everyone has a style moment etched into their brains.

(20th Century Fox)

Today marks the 30th anniversary of The Simpsons hitting the airwaves, with their first animation appearing in The Tracey Ullman Show in 1987. We can't believe it's been 30 years. And we can't believe we've never done a Simpsons style roundup before now. Join us as we celebrate some of our favourite Simpsons style moments — and some very memorable looks.

Marge Simpson

(20th Century Fox)

The matriarch of the Simpson clan, Marge usually has little time for fashion and sticks to her uniform green house dress. But in episode 14 of season seven, Marge buys this classic Chanel suit which results in her being invited to a very exclusive country club. She found the outfit at a discount retailer for $90 marked down from $2800. You too can pick up this look IRL from online retailer Eurotrash for $990AUD which will run you about $1000CAD.

You look so sophisticated, just like Mary Hart!- Lisa Simpson

Homer Simpson

(20th Century Fox)

In season seven's King-Size Homer episode, Homer gained a bunch of weight for it to qualify as a disability, enabling him to work from home. Once he put the weight on, he wanted something "soft and billowy" he could wear while sitting in front of his computer. While we can't back his tactics (oh, Homer...) we can get behind this print.

The floral pattern on his muumuu became iconic in the Simpsons lexicon. At one time you could even buy his muumuu in shirt form at Threadless — but it looks like it's discontinued at this point. Bummer.

Lisa Simpson

(20th Century Fox)

Here we have a real departure from the usual Lisa Simpson look we know and love. Way to step out of your comfort zone, Lisa — every style maven must take risks at times. It's from Season 12's episode, Lisa the Tree Hugger, and the plot is pretty much self explanatory with a title like that. Her hippy vibe here has us musing over what Lisa would have worn to Coachella this weekend. We have a feeling her festival look would kill.

Bart Simpson

(20th Century Fox)

Bart can be quite the Casanova and this was never more on display than in season four's New Kid on the Block episode. In an attempt to woo his new neighbour and babysitter, Laura, Bart dons a smoking jacket and pipe reminiscent of a certain Playboy (it's Hugh Hefner). He's eventually shut down by the much older lady, but not for lack of effort.

Maggie Simpson

(20th Century Fox)

The smallest member of the Simpsons clan, of course, is Maggie. The pint-sized, soother-sucker simply wowed in this star snowsuit from the ninth season episode, Miracle on Evergreen Terrace. The orange really brings out her eyes.
