BRANDON, MB—Loreen McKenny, a 112-year-old gearing up to celebrate Mother's Day this Sunday, has certainly been through her share of the holiday.

McKenny says that the only explanation she can think of for her unusually long life is her longtime strict diet. She has spent several decades subsisting on solely foods that can be consumed in a hurry while standing over the sink.

"I would finish cooking up the meal for the family," says McKenny. "And then I'd do a bit of the dishes while they ate, so there would be less for me to do afterward. By the time they were finished eating it was time to head off to soccer and music lessons, so I'd spoon a bit of mashed potatoes out of the pot over the sink while they put their shoes on."

"Worked like a charm!"

McKenny says that she couldn't have achieved the level of discipline she needed, however, without the assistance of her dear husband Gary.

"If he had lifted even a finger to help clean or clear the dishes, or waited a bit before just sitting down and eating his food, or even cooked dinner — just kidding, haha! — I would have found myself at great risk of sitting down and enjoying a full meal at my leisure, and who knows what would have happened then!"

At press time, McKenny also told us that her exercise routine of running back into the house multiple times before each car ride to get things the kids just realized they'd forgotten, which they would mention one at a time, and only immediately after she'd just returned with the last thing, gave her a highly effective exercise routine.
