Workin Moms Season 7 final season concludes Catherine Reitman's 'ride of her life'

One last time, Workin' Moms returns to CBC to explore the friendships, careers and families  of women who are trying their best to balance it all.

Announcing the final season earlier this year, Catherine Reitman, creator and star of Workin' Moms, shared that "Making this show has been the ride of my life." She also expressed gratitude at being able  to make a comedy series that "points a flashlight into the darkest corners of motherhood."

Season 7 of Workin' Moms premieres on January 3 on CBC TV and CBC Gem in Canada, and will be available on Netflix at a later time.

What to expect in the final season

While Season 6 of the show concluded with a cliff-hanger finale, Kate (Reitman) begins the final 13 episodes of Season 7 by reckoning with her own ambition when she takes her business into risky new territory. Her choices blur the lines between her personal and professional life as her husband Nathan (Philip Sternberg) becomes an unlikely lab rat.

Meanwhile, Anne (Dani Kind) finds herself embracing fearlessness following her traumatic experience with a patient in last season's finale. She pushes her family's limits in the process, even if supportive husband Lionel (Ryan Belleville) is a little worried about her behaviour. Jenny (Jessalyn Wanlim) learns that "going it alone" isn't an easy feat when making a fresh start and searching for a better version of yourself.

Val (Sarah McVie) finds herself the hottest new grandma on the block, and begins to climb the ranks of an illegal breastmilk black market, and Sloane (Rookie Blue star Enuka Okuma) is determined to stay on top with her newborn baby in tow, but is forced to decide whether her personal and professional priorities are as settled as she thought.

Also appearing in Season 7 of Workin' Moms are Sadie Munro as Anne's daughter Alice, Kyle Breitkopf as Nathan Jr, Peter Keleghan as Kate's boss Richard, Nikki Duval as Kate's business partner Rosie, Kevin Vidal as Mo, Kate's rival-turned-business-partner, Raymond Ablack (Ginny & Georgia) as quirky CEO Ram, Teresa Pavlink as scientist Denise and Dylan Taylor as Paul, Sloane's supportive boyfriend.

Many returning supporting characters are back for Season 7, including Jann Arden (Anne's mom Jane), Dan Aykroyd (Kate's father Wayne), Donald McClean (Kate's former assistant with a thirst for breastmilk), Aviva Mongillo (Juniper), Jenny Pudavick (Gena), Dayo Ade as Val's partner Mel and Christian Martyn and Evan Marsh as Val's kids.

Reitman started her production company Wolf + Rabbit Entertainment with her husband Sternberg in 2016 to create Workin' Moms for CBC and was recognized by the Gracie Awards for her work on the series as showrunner, following two wins at the Gracies in for acting and direction in 2020. Before Workin' Moms, Reitman was best known for her roles on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Black-ish.
