Warner Brothers announced this week that they are working on a sequel to the attention-grabbing 2015 hit Mad Max: Fury Road, entitled Not Mad, Just Disappointed Max.
Director George Miller said that in writing the script he tried to focus on capturing the depth of one of the worst feelings in the world: that of "having someone not quite angry at you, no, no, that would be too easy. At least you'd be able to accept that, know where they're coming from, and heck, they would probably wear themselves out after a little."
"But nah, Max isn't mad. He's disappointed. And that's worse. Oh, that's a lot worse. This film is a tragedy of the truest kind."
Tom Hardy, who will return to again play the part of Max Rockatansky, said his approach to this movie will differ from that of the previous effort.
"I'm not going to bulk up for this film like I have for some of my other recent pictures," said the Revenant actor. "I feel like this guy wouldn't have the energy to work out super-hard. He's not angry or anything. Nah. He's feeling something deeper than that, a lot worse. Rage would be fine, or at least preferable to this. But he's not angry. He's just… you let him down."
"Why did you let him down?"
At press time, Hardy had been staring at this interviewer for upwards of thirty seconds, just slowly shaking his head and frowning.
