Photo of 'Seinfeld' cast that man began downloading in 1997 finally finishes
BRAMPTON, ON—Serenity now!!!
Well, things are certainly calmer for one man, after Doug Jenkins of Brampton, Ontario, finally finished downloading a pretty great picture of the cast of his favourite television show, Seinfeld, after waiting 20 years.
"Well, almost 20 years," he says.

"It was April 24th, 1997. I remember it like it yesterday. It was the day the 'Yada Yada' episode aired. I don't know if you remember it, they kept Yada Yada-ing over the most important parts? Anyway I said to myself, I need a pic of these guys, this show is FUN! I knew it would take a long time, but I loved the show that much."
Jenkins then found a suitable jpeg file in his Netscape Navigator browser, and got to work, though he was confronted with several limitations.
"I didn't pick one that included Newman or Banya or Jerry's parents, though. That would have been nice, but you have to be choosy. Only the main four, or it just would have taken up too many precious bytes. Not too many colours, either. We all have to be careful. Or we did, in 1997."
The operation has taken not only time, but money and space.
"I couldn't keep working on a 386 computer my whole life," says Jenkins. "I had to keep up with society, just like George was trying to do when he got that toupee or when Babu opened the Dream Café. He thought Jerry was a very bad man after that, haha, a very very bad man!"
"So I eventually got a Notebook, then a Macbook, then a Macbook Pro, then a Macbook Air," he says. "But I needed to keep the connection open so that I didn't interrupt the download of course, so I maintained a whole second desk. Actually, I wanted to renovate my office but didn't want to accidentally knock the modem offline, so I maintained a whole second office, with its own internet connection."
"I had to finish the download. I just love that show. Kramer! Hahaha. I laugh just even thinking of him, as I just did. Have you seen the Junior Mints episode?"
Asked why he didn't simply Google the picture on his new computer and download it in milliseconds, Jenkins replied, "… oh. Right. Yes, I could have done that."
"… that's a shame."
