Metal slide that has reached 4,500 degrees Celsius awaits first rider of summer
BRANDON, MB—Here we go! Time for a little summertime sizzle.
According to the latest reports, the slide next to the smaller jungle gym at Dinsdale Park in Brandon, Manitoba has reached its goal temperature of 4,500 degrees Celsius (8,132 degrees Fahrenheit), and is ready for its first rider of the summer, which is rumoured to be Allen Boxington, 9, who is headed over there right now from his piano lessons.

"I'm real glad to have gotten this hot, this early. I feel like I'm peaking at the right time," said the slide.
"Some years, I'll only get real hot toward the end of August. And because of that, I'll have to put up with a bunch of people sitting on me all summer. And not just kids either, now big heavy adults come to the park to sit on me, night or day. It's 'cool' or something."
"Well, I'll tell you what's not cool. Me."
At press time, it was noon, the sun was shining right on it, I mean look out. Also, ever heard of plastic?
