BOSTON, MA—With debate heating up over the "gender-neutral" version of O Canada proposed by late MP Mauril Belanger as it enters the senate, Conservative leadership candidate Kevin O'Leary is weighing in.

Based on his early comments, however, O'Leary seems less interested in the gender debate than in other matters.

"First of all, and I want to get to this, why is Canada the only place mentioned?" said O'Leary in a press conference held via Skype. "Don't get me wrong. I love Canada. I treasure Canada. I'm going to fix Canada like I would fix a business. But is it the only place in the world? Not last time I checked."

Asked by a reporter to elaborate, O'Leary said, "Well, okay, to pick a place off the top of my head, how about… … I don't know, how about Boston?"

Seeming sparked by this idea, even though aides had already issued an email release for the inclusion of Boston earlier that day, O'Leary became impassioned.

"The Canadians I know are very accepting, at least the ones I run into around Boston. Why shouldn't Boston mean as much to Canadians as Canada does? Why shouldn't a leader be able to run Canada and never leave Boston?"

"I'll tell you what, we'd be a lot closer to that dream if Boston were even given a passing mention in the Canadian anthem, I'll tell you that much right now," continued O'Leary. "And frankly I wonder why Justin Trudeau seems so obsessed with keeping it out of there."

At press time, when questioned on where exactly the mention would go, O'Leary said, "I don't know, just replace a 'thee' with it. There's a lot of them, trust me, you wouldn't miss one."
