YouTube star retires after life hacks revealed to just be common sense
MONTREAL, QC—Famed YouTube star Lizz Debois, 23, AKA "Lizz Bizz," announced this morning that she will be retiring after just one year.
Debois shot to fame in 2015 with her series of "How 2 Hack" videos. "How to boil water"; "How to make a phone call"; and "How to breathe" are just a few of the star's most-watched videos, each with over 200 million views. In her 90-second videos she demonstrates how to do the most mundane and straightforward of tasks that most adults should have learned prior to entering adolescence.
"I just think its time to move on. I've made millions with my life hack videos and seriously can't think of anything else to hack," Debois explained in this morning's "How to quit" video.
"I have no expertise in these areas by any stretch but I saw a growing trend of people really digging life hack videos, so I thought I would give it a shot and it worked," Debois explained. "It's really just common sense. But because the majority of millennials don't know how to do anything without their parents or the help of the Internet, I'm now a millionaire."
The online reaction to Debois' announcement has been total devastation. The 18-29 demographic is beside itself.
Comments under Debois' latest video include:
"I am uber sad about this. How am I going to hack life and half-ass things anymore? I've even had to reconnect with my parents after they were huge dicks and refused to pay my tuition when I dropped out for the 5th time" – Emily, 20
"I haven't eaten or been able to turn on the lights in my apartment for five days" – Jackson, 22
"This is sooo not on fleek" – Aiden, 26
Although Debois is out of the life hack business, she won't be out of our lives forever. She plans on making a series of comedy videos where she impersonates members of her family as well as a wide range of broad ethnic stereotypes.
