OTTAWA, ON—Saying that he needed time to clear his head and really get to know his true self, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Friday morning that he will be taking three months off his duties as leader of the government of Canada to travel through Europe with nothing but a backpack and a leather-bound journal.

"This trip is going to be life-changing. I've got the whole first month planned out," said Trudeau in a Facebook status posted last night. "First I'm going to London for a few weeks to check out the scene there, then I'm going to head over to France to hang out at the Eiffel Tower and impress la demoiselle with my French. After that it's straight to Amsterdam where I'm going meet up with my boy Raphael and grab some of that sweet you-know-what. Beyond there I'm going wherever the good vibes take me!"

"I feel like I have to do this now, before I get super tied down with any major responsibilities," Trudeau continued. "I don't want to be one of those Prime Ministers that assumes office and then immediately goes right to work. I don't want to wake up in ten years and wonder what might have been. I need this time to do some soul searching and figure out what I really want to do with my term as PM."

However, not everyone has been supportive of his dream.

"I was against the idea when he first brought it up," recalls Margaret Trudeau, Justin's mother. " But then I remembered how his father used to talk about wanting to see the Coliseum in Rome but was never able to find the time. Sure, he's going to be out there in the world all by himself, and I'll be worried the whole time he's away, but I think ultimately this is going to be good for Justin."

Before leaving on his three-month journey, Trudeau held multiple senate votes on important aspects of his trip such as what hostel to stay in in Paris, how much trail mix to bring, and what size of Canadian flag to sew onto his backpack.

Can we please be more respectful of Justin Trudeau? ...Nah.
