Blue Ivy drops surprise diss track on Mother's Day
NEW YORK, NY—Fans were treated to a surprise this weekend when four-year-old Blue Ivy, daughter of rapper Sean "Jay Z" Carter and songstress Beyoncé Knowles, released a song titled Apple Juice at 4 am on Sunday morning.
Much attention has been focused on the Knowles-Carter family since the April 23rd release of Beyoncé's confessional Lemonade album and its powerful hints of infidelity in her marriage to Jay Z. According to US Weekly magazine, Jay Z is working on a response album to address the accusations.
Determined not to be ignored, Blue Ivy's surprisingly vulgar release speaks directly to the rumours concerning her father, as well as other issues plaguing her daily life.
No one is spared from attack as Blue launches into what can only be described as a tirade. With little concern for rhyme but masterfully on beat, she speaks out about her unjust bedtime, toys she wishes she had, and demands to know why her friends' parents don't appear to sleep in separate rooms.
In what many are speculating to be a threatening message aimed at two-year-old North West, daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Blue shouts, "YOU CAN'T COME TO MY BIRTHDAY PARTY" over a soulful chorus where she later proclaims proudly, "That's not lemonade, it's pee."
Blue Ivy's frustration with her parents is palpable throughout the song, and can be most acutely felt when she sings:
Okay Mommy I need some information
Okay Daddy I need some information
One day I'll understand all this adult conversation
Perhaps most intriguing are the final seconds of the song where Blue can be heard whispering "I miss Nanny Becky" as the instrumental fades out.
Sources close to the family confirm that it was a very tense Mother's Day celebration in the Knowles-Carter household.
