Auston Matthews asks Mike Babcock to describe the playoffs again before tucking him in
TORONTO, ON—As your Toronto Maple Leafs prepare to embark upon their first playoff journey since the 2012-2013 season, and only the second since 2003-2004, the team is restless. This group of players is the second youngest in the league with an average age of just 25.7, and for most, the playoffs are little more than a mythical tale.

That's why when, as he does every night, Mike Babcock walked by the bed of every Maple Leafs player, tucking them in and placing a surprise hockey puck under their pillow for morning, he was stopped last night by Auston Matthews, who asked Babcock to describe what the playoffs are like again.
Babcock, who has made the playoffs in 11 of his 13 seasons in the league thus far, smiled a fatherly smile. He then asked Matthews, Mitch Marner, and James van Riemsdyk to gather round.
"Boys, it's just like any other game… but it isn't," he said softly. "It's hockey, but everything's a little bit louder, everything's a little bit brighter, everything's a little bit crisper."
"It's like playing in technicolour, young fellas."
Nazem Kadri, William Nylander, and Tyler Bozak were soon roused and rushed over in their robes, as Babcock tousled the hair of each young lad.
"Of course the main thing you need to remember is that the playoffs just won't happen if you're not well rested," Babcock said. "So show yourselves to beds, young ones. Or you'll get a visit from… the Bruins."
The boys screamed with fright and delight, and ran back into their beds. Babcock turned out the lights and left, leaving them to dream exciting dreams of surely losing to the Washington Capitals in four games straight.
