June is Indigenous Book Club Month and National Indigenous History Month in Canada. To celebrate, CBC Books is asking Indigenous artists, community leaders and advocates to share their favourite #IndigenousReads.

Sid Bobb, an actor and the co-artistic director of Aanmitaagzi, chose Ravensong by Lee Maracle.

"For many reasons, Ravensong, by Lee Maracle is my pick! My art, stories, culture and DNA flow through me from my family, nation and territory. My mom, Lee Maracle, is at at the heart of this. She penned this book in three days! Against colonial, class and capitalist barriers I have seen her artfully toil for the good of our family, territory and justice. This book resonates for me in my current project, Serpent People. Oh Siem!"

Sid Bobb is the co-artistic director of Aanmitaagzi, Anishinaabemowin for He/She Speaks, a professional Indigenous multi-arts company on Nipissing First Nation territory. He is a theatre actor and co-hosted Kids' CBC from 2007 to 2016.
