As the year draws to a close, CBC Books is asking award-winning and nominated writers for their favourite Canadian titles of 2018. Thea Lim is the author of the novel An Ocean of Minutes, which was a finalist for the 2018 Scotiabank Giller Prize.

Lim recommends reading Split Tooth by Tanya Tagaq.

"A blend of prose, poetry and stark illustrations from Love and Rockets' Jaime Hernandez, Split Toothis beautifully disorienting. The reader has to put together the text's fragments, just as the story's heartbreaking hero pieces the world together herself."
