Picture book by Canadian writer Kai Cheng Thom read by Julie Andrews on her children's literary podcast
Legendary British actor Julie Andrews reads from the picture book From the Stars in the Sky to the Fish in the Sea by Toronto writer Kai Cheng Thom for her podcast Julie's Library.
Illustrated by Kai Yun Ching & Wai-Yant Li, From the Stars in the Sky to the Fish in the Sea is about a young child named Miu Lan who can't decide whether to be a boy or a girl, a bird or a fish, a flower or a shooting star. It's a beautifully imagined picture book about gender, identity and the acceptance of the differences between us all.
"The book is truly the best thing I have ever created as an artist," said Cheng Thom on her Facebook page.
"Julie Andrews is a hero of mine, as she is for so many people... I am truly overwhelmed and honoured to hear my words in her legendary voice."
Julie's Library is a podcast Andrews hosts with her daughter, Emma Walton Hamilton. Together, they read their favourite children's books.

Cheng Thom is also the author of the poetry collection a place called No Homeland, the novel Fierce Femmes and Notorious Liars and the essay collection I Hope We Choose Love.
