Malala Yousafzai working on book about refugees

The next book from Nobel winner Malala Yousafzai is a story of refugees.

We Are Displaced will come out Sept. 4, 2018, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers told the Associated Press. It is Yousafzai's second book. Her  bestselling memoir, I Am Malala, came out in 2013.

We Are Displaced will combine Yousafzai's own experiences with accounts she has heard while visiting refugee camps. The 20-year-old Pakistani activist for female education said in a statement that she hoped to show "the humanity behind the statistics."

In 2014, she became the youngest Nobel Peace Prize winner ever when given the award at age 17. She became an honorary Canadian citizen the same year. 

When accepting her citizenship, she commended Canada for opening its door to refugees as other countries seals its borders.

"Your motto and your stand, welcome to Canada, is more than a headline or a hashtag," she said. "It is the spirit of humanity that every single one of us would yearn for if our family was in crisis. I pray that you continue to open your homes, your hearts, to the world's most defenceless children and families and I hope your neighbours will follow your example."

She also encouraged young people not to wait before becoming active for a good cause.

"I used to think I had to wait to be an adult to lead. But I've learned that even a child's voice can be heard around the world," she said.
