Canadian author Iain Reid's latest novel, Foewon't be released until August 2018, but it's already got a film deal.

According to publisher Simon & Schuster, Anonymous Content landed the movie rights after a "competitive bidding war." Reid is set to executive produce the adaptation. Kerry Kohansky-Roberts and Steve Golin are also attached as producers on the project.

Reid's previous thriller, I'm Thinking of Ending Thingswas a bestseller and is being adapted for a Netflix film by director Charlie Kaufman.

Foe takes place on a remote farm, home to a married couple named Junior and Henrietta. One day, a stranger arrives on their doorstep with some terrible news.

"Junior has been randomly selected to travel far away from the farm… [But] Henrietta won't have a chance to miss him, because she won't be left alone — not even for a moment. Henrietta will have company. Familiar company," Simon & Schuster teases in their description of the novel.
