On Day One, Two Trees Make a Forest by Jessica J. Lee and championed by Scott Helman was the first book to be eliminated. On Day Two, Rosey Edeh championed The Midnight Bargain by C.L. Polk, but the book was the next to be removed from contention.
The champions and their chosen books are:
- Olympian and broadcaster Rosey Edeh champions The Midnight Bargain by C.L. Polk
- Singer-songwriter Scott Helman champions Two Trees Make a Forest by Jessica J. Lee
- Actor and filmmaker Devery Jacobs champions Jonny Appleseed by Joshua Whitehead
- Actor Paul Sun-Hyung Lee champions Hench by Natalie Zina Walschots
- Chef, recording artist and TV host Roger Mooking champions Butter Honey Pig Bread by Francesca Ekwuyasi
The third round of Canada's annual battle of the books (March 10, 2021) featured a lively discussion as the five panellists debated on which of the three remaining books is the "one book to transport us."
Moderated by host Ali Hassan, the panellists talked about how their books explore resilience, accessibility and trauma — with the ensuing conversation leading to another vote.
