Canada Reads 2018 finale: Watch the replay
Only two books remain. One will become the Canada Reads 2018 champion on March 29, 2018.
On the Canada Reads 2018 finale, Tahmoh Penikett, defending American War by Omar El Akkad, went head to head against Jeanne Beker, defending Forgiveness by Mark Sakamoto, to determine the winner of this year's battle of the books.
On the final day of debates, Penikett and Beker were each given the opportunity to sway fellow panellists Mozhdah Jamalzadah, Greg Johnson and Jully Black through discussions of the books' literary merit, themes and subject matter — and why their respective book is the one book to open the eyes of all Canadians.
The 2018 contenders are:
- Tahmoh Penikett defending American War by Omar El Akkad
- Jeanne Beker defending Forgiveness by Mark Sakamoto
- Mozhdah Jamalzadah defending The Boat People by Sharon Bala
- Jully Black defending The Marrow Thieves by Cherie Dimaline
- Greg Johnson defending Precious Cargo by Craig Davidson
