Aurora Awards shortlists for Canadian sci-fi and fantasy announced

Shortlists for the Aurora Awards, which celebrate the best in Canadian science fiction and fantasy writing, were announced on Friday.

Members of the Canadian Science Fiction & Fantasy Association vote for the winners of the Aurora Awards, which are presented annually. This year's voting period is from June 15 to June 23. The winners will be announced during the weekend of the science fiction convention Canvention 36, held August 12-14 this year.

The finalists for Best English Novel are:

  • Cursed: Black Swan by Ryan T. McFadden
  • A Daughter of No Nation by A.M. Dellamonica
  • Drowning in Amber by E.C. Bell
  • Much Ado about Macbeth by Randy McCharles
  • Signal to Noise by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
  • Too Far Gone by Chadwick Ginther

The finalists for Best English Young Adult Novel are:

  • The Flame in the Maze by Caitlin Sweet
  • The Fountain by Suzy Vadori
  • An Inheritance of Ashes by Leah Bobet
  • Mabel the Mafioso Dwarf by Sherry Peters
  • Maddie Hatter and the Deadly Diamond by Jayne Barnard

The finalists for Best English Graphic Novel are:
