A new season of The Next Chapter begins Sept. 7 with Margaret Atwood and Jesse Thistle

The Next Chapter on CBC Radio is back with host Shelagh Rogers for its 12th season.

The first episode, airing Sept. 7, 2019, will feature author interviews with Margaret Atwood and Jesse Thistle.

Atwood's anticipated novel The Testaments is a sequel to her award-winning 1985 book The Handmaid's TaleSoon to be released, The Testaments is already on the 2019 Booker Prize longlist.

Thistle, an award-winning Indigenous scholar, shares his story of being homeless and turning his life around in his debut memoir From the Ashes. You can download a special preview podcast of Thistle's interview now.

It's a jam-packed season opener, but there is plenty more literary goodness to come this fall, including interviews with Cherie Dimaline on Empire of WildMichael Crummey on The Innocents and Lynn Coady on Watching You Without Me.
