2020 Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductee Jann Arden releasing new memoir
If I Knew Then: Finding Wisdom in Failure and Power in Aging will be available in Oct. 2020
Singer-songwriter Jann Arden will be releasing her new memoir, If I Knew Then: Finding Wisdom in Failure and Power in Aging, in October 2020.
The award-winning musician was recently announced as the 2020 inductee into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
Arden's new memoir will chronicle the surprises and screw-ups that have made her 50s so rewarding.
"I've learned so much about failing and how important failing is to success," said Arden in a press release.
"This is the furthest thing you can imagine from being a 'self-help' book. On the contrary, it's a book about screwing up and how I found that good things almost always come from bad things and that this is the time to do the things you want to do and be the person you want to be."
Arden has won eight Juno Awards and is a multi-platinum artist. She stars in the sitcom Jann, in which she plays a fictional version of herself.
Arden has written two previous nonfiction books, both of them bestsellers.
Her debut memoir Falling Backwards was published in 2011 and described her journey from childhood to stardom.
In 2017, Arden released Feeding My Mother, an account of moving back to rural Alberta and caring for her mother who had Alzheimer's disease.
If I Knew Then is about coming into your own in the fifth decade of your life.
"Now is not the time to pack in dreams, or set aside projects or prop oneself on a rocking chair and wave at the world as it goes by. Not at all," said Arden.
"For me, I've found a confidence and bravado and wisdom and a sureness that I never had in my thirties or even forties."
